Snow Bros PC Game

Snow Bros PC GameSnow Bros PC Game

Snow Bros is a video game released in 1990 by Toaplan. The game seems to be similar with Bubble Bobble, supports two players, and is actually really fun to play. The fact that it was ported on lots of other platforms says a lot about how many people thought this game is a cracker.

The game was ported for many other platforms soon after the release. Capcom released the game for Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1991. Amiga, Atari, ST, Commodore, GX4000 and ZX Spectrum developed their own version of the game in the same year. The version for Sega Genesis was released by Tengen in 1993 with additional levels, new background music and cut scenes which were missing from the arcade version.

Two players take each the control of one of the snowmen, Nick and Tom, and can throw with snow at the enemies. When the enemy is completely covered in snow, they turn into a snowball and lose the game. The game is based on levels. A boss will have to be defeated after every 10 levels. They are more difficult to defeat and can take more hits than the normal enemies.

If the main characters bowl an enemy over, they may drop different lanterns. The color of the lantern tells the player which power-up he or she can acquire. The effects of most of the power-ups disappears after the player loses a life.
The levels have to be finished fast. If it takes too much time, an evil pumpkin will come out and try to kill Nick and Tom. The pumpkin head is unfortunately invincible, and at some point in time will even spawn ghosts that can travel through the levels and try to kill the player character.

Icy Tower PC Game

Icy Tower PC GameIcy Tower PC Game

Icy Tower is a fun and challenging arcade game that will you have jumping from platform to platform as you race up an unbelievably tall tower. See how high you can make it or go for the largest score as you move further and further up. You can save and watch replays of your best attempts or find out where you messed up on bad ones. Adjust a variety of options to create an experience that's perfect for you in the Custom Mode. Best of all, it's completely free.

Basic Gameplay - Jump Up the Tower (Doing Tricks)

In Icy Tower, you start at the bottom of a tower and must work your way upwards by jumping from platform to platform. These platforms range from very wide to barely large enough to stand on. Each platform is a floor in the tower (so the 100th platform would be floor 100). As you make your way up the tower, the screen scrolls downward at an increasing rate. If you don't keep moving up the tower fast enough, the bottom will overtake you and the game will end.
To help you move up the tower faster and earn more points there are “combos”. Combos are performed by building up your characters speed (by running fast enough, bouncing off walls, falling, etc.) and jumping. A combo is a jump from one platform to another platform at least two floors above. Combos can be “chained” in one bigger combo if you keep making large jumps in quick succession. It's a great way to increase your score dramatically and quickly move up the tower.

Only One Tower

While Icy Tower does not provide different levels or towers to play, it does offer two modes. The Classic Mode is the normal gameplay that has you jumping from platform to platform as the screen scrolls faster and faster. This mode also has a profile for your character that tracks things like largest jumps or combos, and has a rank for you based on your accomplishments. Your rank can be increased by meeting certain objectives (such as getting a 15 floor combo).
Custom Mode is almost identical to Classic Mode, except that it gives you more options and does not count towards your profile or rank. You can change the scrolling speed of the screen, platform size, and the strength of gravity to create an extremely easy or incredibly challenging platform jumping experience.

No Difficulty Settings

One downside is the lack of options to adjust the difficulty settings. There's no way to make the game any easier or more difficult. You can play the Custom Mode and adjust some settings, but some can't be made easier (like scrolling speed) and nothing you in this mode counts towards your profile or rank. While it's not a huge issue or setback, it would have been a nice addition to have some difficulty choices (like easy, medium, hard, etc.).

Simple Controls

One positive aspect of the game is the relatively simple controls. You'll only need to learn a few keys to start playing the game. The arrow keys can move you left or right while the space bar makes you jump. The controls and combos are clearly outlined in the instructions of the game. Additionally, you have the option to customize the controls and change them to something more comfortable for you.
The presentation in Icy Tower is positive overall, with clean and colorful graphics that look very good, especially compared to similar games. There is also a decent (although limited) soundtrack that complements the gameplay well. The only negative aspect may be the sound effects played when jumping. These sounds can quickly become annoying, but can be disabled if you choose.

Repetitive

Another issue with the game is the repetitive nature of the gameplay. In both modes you are constantly jumping from platform to platform until the game ends. It can get a bit boring after playing for a while. On the other hand, the profile and ranks do give you something to work toward and a reason to replay. You might want to keep going for a new high score, or to reach a new floor. You could work towards earning the next ranking by achieving whatever objectives you need. Icy Tower is a great way to kill some time, but whether the game lasts long will depend on the type of player you are.

Conclusion - Recommended Freeware

Icy Tower is great game that would be an excellent choice for anyone interested in a simple, fun, addicting arcade game. While it has drawbacks such as repetitive play and a lack of difficulty settings, those are far outweighed by the positive aspects. All of your stats and scores are tracked in a profile, letting you see your best jumps, scores, and floors. You can work towards improving these stats or towards a new rank to show just how skilled you are. Save or watch replays of any of your games. Adjust the settings in Custom Mode to create a game that's right for you.

Angry Birds PC Game

Angry Birds PC GameAngry Birds PC Game

Angry Birds is a deceptively simple puzzle game that is known for keeping players busy for hours at a time. It initially gained popularity as a phone-based game but has since stretched its boundaries and journeyed to other platforms as well.

Puzzles Based on Physics

Angry Birds has a fantastic physics engine that makes the game consistent and challenging. The pigs usually hole themselves up in bases made from combinations of wood, stone, ice, glass or snow, and some forts must be hit in a very specific way in order to clobber the pig hiding inside.Sometimes you can make the buildings even stronger by attacking them in a way that makes the pieces fall tighter around the pig. It takes trial and error, strategy and logic to determine the best plan of attack against each puzzle. Be prepared to play levels multiple times before solving them!

Lock and Load

Who knew catapulting birds could be so much fun? Birds bent on revenge happily load themselves into a giant slingshot and wait for you to fire them at the enemies. You are in full control of the trajectory of each shot. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the game is simply experimenting with different ways of firing the shot.
There are also a variety of different birds to work with in each level with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes, the birds you have to work with are as much of a challenge as the obstacles the pigs have come up with themselves.

240+ Levels of Pork Popping Mayhem

Angry Birds offers wonderful replay value due to the massive amount of levels in the game. In addition, all future updates are provided free of charge after the game is purchased.

Angry Birds Never Looked or Sounded Better!

The graphics and audio in the PC version of the game have been optimized for larger screens and bigger speakers. The resulting graphics are stunning and crisp, with zero pixelation or distortion.
The sound is also of the highest quality, meaning that all of the little noises the pigs and birds make will be clear as a bell.

Simple, Easy Controls

Angry Birds was initially created to work with a touchscreen interface, but Angry Birds for the PC uses the mouse instead with excellent results. In the game, your cursor appears as a floating hand. Simply pull back on the slingshot by clicking and dragging, and launch the bird by letting go.
Despite the simplicity, these controls are precise!

Golden Eggs to Collect

There are tons of golden eggs hidden in the game for you to find. Each golden egg opens up a special level for you to play. Collect them all!
Angry Birds offers addictive puzzle gameplay that players just can't get enough of. This game provides a perfect balance between thought-provoking puzzles and the gleeful destruction of everything on the screen. It's fun, fast and absorbing!

Angry Birds Review

Does Angry Birds Live Up to the Hype?

Angry Birds is one of the most popular game apps of all time, with fans all over the world. Angry Birds Free (on mobile) is an ad-supported version of the game that allows people to get a taste of what the ubiquitous physics puzzler is all about.  The PC download version has a limited number of levels available.

Puzzles Based on Physics

The puzzles in Angry Birds Free are immediately understandable, even for newcomers. Birds readily line up and load themselves on a giant slingshot, and it's your job to launch them at their target successfully. The goal is to defeat the enemy pigs that are hiding in fortresses made from various materials such as steel, wood and glass. Each bird has its own unique size, weight and speed, adding to the challenge.
The physics engine in this game is predictable, realistic and intuitive. This sets the stage for puzzles where one thing naturally leads to another, creating perfect cause and effect scenarios. The game is sensitive too. Simple changes in trajectory make all the difference, especially during the more difficult levels.
Players of all ages are drawn to the puzzles in Angry Birds. They are easy to understand, yet offer up a satisfying challenge that will please even the most seasoned puzzle fan. It's a puzzle game for everyone.

Charming Birds on a Mission

The birds are angry for good reason! The evil green pigs have stolen their eggs, and it's up to the birds to get them back, no matter the cost. The Flock is made up of the following characters:
  • Red Bird - This bird serves as the logo for the Angry Birds franchise, and he acts as the leader of the group. In gameplay, he is the first bird players get to work with, and he retains his usefulness throughout the entire game. He's not the strongest of the Flock, but he's the most reliable.
  • Blue Bird - This bird splits into three, making it useful for raining a barrage of shots down on a wider area. The blue bird has less power than the red bird, but its usefulness is unmatched, especially around glass.
  • Yellow Bird - The yellow member of the flock can be boosted while flying in mid-air, making it a powerful weapon against wood. Activating the boost also halts the arc of the flight trajectory by making the bird rush forward in a straight line. Skillful players will use this extra element to their advantage.
  • Black Bird - The black bird is the almighty bomb bird. He is the strongest of all of the birds. This one isn't as common as the others, and the game only offers bombs on levels that require them. Fantastic against stone.
  • White Bird - This bird launches an egg on enemies from above, making it useful for getting at protected targets that the other birds can't easily reach. It is bigger than many of the other birds, making it more difficult to gain altitude on the shots.
  • Boomerang Bird - This bird has a wacky flight pattern that boomerangs back towards the direction it was launched from. This is one of the most useful birds in the game, but it's also one of the most difficult birds to control.
These are the core members of the team, and they each bring a unique set of strengths and weaknesses to the table, adding essential variation to this game.

Swindling Swine on the Run

The pigs in Angry Birds are bursting with personality. The pig antagonists come in all shapes and sizes, and some are harder to pop than others. Helmets give pigs considerable protection, enabling them to occasionally survive the collapse of their fort. A mustache is even better than the helmet, oddly enough.
The pigs will openly mock and laugh at you when you lose. This makes beating difficult levels all the sweeter. Take that, laughing pigs!
The idea of kamikaze birds being launched at enemy pigs sounds pretty violent, but it's not. There is no death or blood in this game. The characters simply disappear from the screen with a poof and a pop. It's 100% G rated gameplay at its finest.

15 Exclusive Levels

Unlike other free game versions, this game boasts its own exclusive levels that even the paid versions don't have. That makes Angry Birds Free a must download for everyone, including those who own and play the paid version.

Great Controls

The controls in Angry Birds Free are fluid and smooth. For a puzzle game that focuses so much on maintaining proper aim, this is essential. The slingshot has a nice, springy feel and it's easy to manipulate and adjust. Pulling back, aiming and firing are easy as 1-2-3, and it's clear that this game was made with touchscreens in mind.
The game starts players out with a zoomed in screen, making it necessary to scroll around in order to see the big picture. This is easily fixed by pinching the screen to zoom out. The birds are still very easy to aim and fire, even with the larger screen resolution.

Colorful and Vibrant Graphics

The visual style of Angry Birds Free is cartoony and charming, with simple backgrounds and bright colors. Everything is clear and easy to distinguish, and the art has a special style unique to this series.
The settings differ greatly throughout the course of Angry Birds Free. The initial puzzles are based in a rural looking area, but later episodes take place against a nighttime cityscape, a dreamlike land of sweets, an underground mine and more.

Wonderful Replay Value

Few games can top the replay value of Angry Birds Free. Performance on each level is given a star rating of one, two or three stars, and it takes several attempts for players to achieve a three star rating. Because the levels can be played so quickly, it's fun and easy to play levels repeatedly until that coveted expert rating is earned. This gives the game supreme replay value.

Same Thing, Over and Over

This game doesn't offer up much variation when it comes to puzzles. The materials of the forts will vary, as will available avian ammo. Beyond that, it's the same thing again and again. This repetition is part of the game's charm, but it's possible to get burnt out on launching birds, especially when facing more difficult levels.

Challenging Levels Require Time and Patience

Some of the levels in Angry Birds Free seem impossible at first blush, and they require many rounds of trial and error to solve and clear. This difficulty is a welcome thing for many puzzle lovers, but it can lead to frustration for casual players just looking to pass some time.

Conclusion

Angry Birds Free is an exceptional demo that sets the standard for game trials. Essentially giving away a miniature edition of their popular game is a great way to give players a taste of the action. This game has near universal appeal, and it's a must play for anyone who owns a smartphone or PC. The only game better than Angry Birds Free is the full version.
